A custom-sized premium leather dog collar with dee ring placed in front of the roller buckle for added strength.

Designed for strong dogs that pull on the lead, or if your dog needs to be tied up. As the dee ring (the bit that attaches to the lead) is in front of the buckle it gives another layer of leather to strain against if your dog is pulling.

Handmade from Italian vegetable-tanned full-grain leather and rust-proof solid brass hardware. Personalised with a hand stamped brass nameplate with your dog's details; a 'silent' alternative to a jingly dog tag.

Choose from either gold (solid brass) or silver (nickel-plated solid brass with stainless steel nameplate) hardware colours.

THE LEATHER

The vegetable-tanned leather has been selected for its strength and beauty - as it ages it will soften and develop a unique, natural patina, whilst remaining extremely strong to withstand harsh and demanding conditions. It has been dyed all the way through with non-toxic water dyes.

The edges of the leather collar have been rounded, smoothed and sealed by hand for your dog's comfort.

THE HARDWARE

Cast from solid brass, our hardware has been selected for maximum strength and to ensure our products remain rust-free for life. All hardware is kept securely in place with strong solid brass rivets.

The leather has been paired with a brass buckle and loop to ensure the strap stays securely in place, along with a dee ring for attaching a leash.

Your dog's details will be clearly seen on the solid brass/stainless steel nameplate, a clever (and silent!) alternative to a traditional dog tag. Hand-stamped on up to three lines with 3mm letters and numbers. Standard placement for the nameplate is directly opposite the buckle when the collar is done up, if you'd like it placed elsewhere please leave a note in the comments box at checkout.

CARE & CONSIDERATIONS

With appropriate care, this leather collar should last your dog many years.

As our collars are entirely handmade by us, marks from the tooling process and minor inconsistencies in the stamping will occur. Neither will detract from the quality and beauty of the collar, in fact we think this adds to the charm of choosing a handmade, unique product rather than something that has been mass-produced.

LEATHER

Leather is a natural material and it can display natural marking and colour variations. Over time, the leather will soften with the oils from your dog's coat, developing a natural patina. With a bit of love and care, leather ages gracefully! Give it the occasional clean and recondition with leather dressing, and it will reward you with many years of service. Avoid getting it saturated with water as this can cause the leather to become brittle. For dogs that love to swim, we recommend keeping a secondary, nylon collar for water-based outings. If your leather dog collar does get wet, allow it to dry naturally and then recondition with a good quality leather dressing.

BRASS

Brass will naturally dull and tarnish over time. You can leave it to develop a beautiful, natural patina or you can bring yours back to a beautiful sheen by polishing with brass cleaner.

IS THIS A SUITABLE COLLAR FOR YOUR DOG?

While our collars are extremely sturdy, and will withstand forceful tugging, there are determined dogs out there for which any collar is no match! If your dog has a history of being extremely tough on collars we recommend using a specialty collar.

As with any collar, check leather and hardware for signs of weakness. If rivets need replacing, contact us.

Sizing Instructions

DOG - HOW TO MEASURE YOUR DOG'S NECK

LENGTH

Using a soft tape measure, record the circumference of the neck at the point where a collar would naturally lie. Pull the tape so that it is snug but not tight. Enter this measurement in the personalisation text box when prompted. This measurement will be the middle hole of the collar, we will add another two holes either side at 3/4" intervals. If your dog is a puppy, please let us know and we will make an allowance for growth when sizing the holes for the collar.

Please feel free to give us a range (up to 12cm, i.e. 38-50cm) so that we can make sure there are enough holes to suit your dog's growth. We can be very flexible with the number of holes provided in the collar.

WIDTH

This is personal preference, but as a guide choose 1/2" for tiny dogs, 3/4" for small dogs, 1" for medium dogs and 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" for large dogs.
