Versatile Centre Ring Dog Collar Design

This flat leather dog collar, also known as a Centre Ring Collar or Field Collar, features two leather straps joined in the centre with an 'O' ring. This design, traditionally favoured by hunting dogs, allows the collar to have more flexibility and manoeuvrability as the straps can move freely around the 'O' ring and may allow the collar to be more easily 'rolled' off the dog's neck if caught in bushes or other obstacles during outdoor activities. Custom-made to ensure a perfect fit, the 'O' ring design is both functional and stylish. Choose up to two of our premium leather colours for a unique look. The result is a collar that offers both style and reliability, perfect for everyday wear.

Quality Craftsmanship

Investing in a Kinfolk Leather custom dog collar is about more than style—it's about embracing quality craftsmanship and thoughtful design that prioritises your dog's comfort and safety. Our collars feature premium Italian vegetable-tanned leather, known for its ability to soften and age beautifully over time.

Perfect Fit

Our meticulous handcrafting process ensures every edge is rounded, smoothed, and sealed for ultimate comfort. The precisely positioned buckle holes guarantee a perfect fit, and the adjustable buckle makes it easy to put on and take off your dog. A brass buckle and loop ensure the strap stays securely in place, along with a dee ring for attaching a leash.

Silent Nameplate Option

Opt for our optional hand-stamped nameplate, a 'silent' alternative to traditional jingly dog tags. Securely riveted to the leather, this nameplate adds a touch of elegance and durability. Unlike laser engraving, hand-stamping creates a deeper, more distinctive impression, ensuring your dog's identification stands out.

Lasting Investment

Choosing a Kinfolk Leather custom dog collar means investing in a piece that showcases your dog's unique personality with timeless style and lasting quality. Our collars are crafted to endure and look great for years. When you’re ready for a fresh look, we can reuse the same high-quality hardware to create a new strap, ensuring your dog’s collar is as sustainable as it is stylish.

Due to high demand and our commitment to quality, please allow up to 2 weeks for your custom creation to be carefully crafted.

LEATHER

The vegetable-tanned leather has been selected for its strength and beauty. As it ages, it will soften and develop a unique, natural patina, while remaining extremely strong to withstand harsh and demanding conditions. It has been dyed all the way through with non-toxic water dyes.

HARDWARE

We use premium British saddlery hardware, cast from solid brass and rust-proof. Our hardware is selected for maximum strength, ensuring our products remain rust-free for life. All hardware is kept securely in place with strong solid brass rivets.

NAMEPLATE

A solid brass or stainless steel nameplate, attached securely to the collar using solid brass rivets to match the colour of the nameplate.

BEAUTIFUL FLAWS

As our collars are entirely handmade, marks from the tooling process and minor inconsistencies in the stamping will occur. These do not detract from the quality and beauty of the collar. In fact, we believe they add to the charm of choosing a handmade, unique product rather than something mass-produced.

Is this suitable for your pet?

If your dog has a history of being extremely tough on collars, such as, excessive pulling behaviour, we recommend using a specialty collar when attached to a leash or tie-out and keeping this leather dog collar for 'good'. While our collars are extremely sturdy, and will withstand forceful tugging, there are determined dogs out there for which any collar is no match!

Remember: the wider the leather, the stronger the collar. Please see our Sizing Guide for recommended collar widths.

Collar Width

Leather Dog Collars:

As a general guide, we recommend that if your dog’s neck circumference is:

  • Less than 22cm (8.5”) or a puppy under 3 months old, choose a soft leather puppy collar.
  • 22 - 28cm (8.5 - 11”), choose a 1/2” leather collar.
  • 28 - 34cm (11 - 13”), choose a 3/4” leather collar.
  • 34 - 41cm (13 - 16”), choose a 1” leather collar.
  • 41 - 48cm (15 - 19”), choose a 1 1/4” leather collar.
  • 48cm (19”) and larger, choose a 1 1/2” leather collar.

BioThane Dog Collars:

The BioThane range comes in widths of 1/2”, 3/4”, and 1”. Because Biothane is stronger than leather, these widths are suitable for a wider range of neck sizes. When choosing a width, you can focus more on the look you prefer and the comfort of your dog, as the strength will be adequate regardless of the size.

  • 1/2” Biothane Collar: Suitable for necks up to 35cm (14”).
  • 3/4” Biothane Collar: Suitable for necks from 28cm (11") - 40cm (16").
  • 1” Biothane Collar: Suitable for necks from 35cm (14") and beyond. This width is highly recommended for most medium and large dog breeds.

General Tips:

  • Wider collars are stronger, so please consider this when selecting the width. For example, do not use a 1/2” collar for a medium-sized dog; choose at least a 3/4” collar or larger.
  • For medium-sized breeds and larger dogs, especially those that have a habit of pulling on the lead, we highly recommend choosing one of our D-End Dog Collars. These collars provide an additional layer of leather to pull against when attaching a lead to the dee ring, offering extra strength and durability to handle stronger pulling.

How To Measure

How to Measure For A Dog Collar

We strongly suggest providing an accurate measurement when placing your order. If you follow the instructions below, this will allow us to make a collar for your dog that will fit him/her well.

1. Using a soft tape measure, record the circumference of the neck at the point where a collar would naturally lie.

2. Pull the tape so that it is snug but not tight. Record the measurement.

3. Enter this measurement in the personalisation text box when prompted. This measurement will be the middle hole of the collar, we will add at least another two holes either side.

Puppies - If your dog is a puppy, please let us know and we will make an allowance for growth when sizing the holes for the collar. Please feel free to give us a range (up to 12cm, i.e. 24-36cm) so that we can make sure there are enough holes to suit your dog's growth. We can be very flexible with the number of holes provided in the collar.

How to Measure For A Cat Collar

1. Using a soft tape measure, record the circumference of the neck at the point where a collar would naturally lie.

2. Pull the tape so that it is snug but not tight. Record the measurement.

3. Enter this measurement in the personalisation text box when prompted.
