This long line dog training lead is made from waterproof Biothane (also known as vegan leather). This durable material is perfect for everyday use, ensuring your lead won't suffer damage from regular wear and tear. It is easily cleaned, a necessary feature on a dog lead that will spend a lot of its life being dragged on the ground!

Features include a brass trigger clip, loop handle and o-ring, and can be custom-made to your desired length. We have also added a removable loop so you can easily and neatly hang the lead on a hook.

It is handmade using Biothane strapping (a waterproof alternative to leather - sometimes known as vegan leather or faux leather) and rust-proof hardware.

Biothane comes in a variety of colours, and is known for its durability and low maintenance. Biothane dog leads are resistant to water, dirt, and odour, and can easily be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Unlike traditional leather leads, biothane leads do not require regular conditioning or oiling to keep them in good condition.

One of the benefits of biothane dog leads is that they are strong and durable, yet lightweight and flexible. This makes them comfortable for you to hold, even for long periods of time. They are also resistant to chewing and scratching, which can be a common problem with other types of leads.

Customisation Options

Leather - your choice of MANY colours of waterproof Biothane strapping.

Hardware - your choice of either gold (solid brass), silver (nickel-plated solid brass) or black (plated zinc) hardware. The black hardware is rated to 160kg, so suited to small/medium dogs, not lead pullers.

Nameplate - if you would like a nameplate added, your dog's details will be hand-stamped and clearly seen on the solid brass or stainless steel nameplate. The standard placement of the nameplate is directly underneath the rivets that create the loop of the handle. However, if you would like a different placement just let us know - we can attach it wherever you like.

(Please note that the stainless steel nameplates are marine-grade and are a VERY hard metal - this means that the letter stamping has a lighter effect than the brass. This difference is shown in the product images.)

Is this suitable for your pet?

The black hardware is rated to 160kg, so suited to small/medium dogs, not lead pullers.

Materials

BIOTHANE
Biothane is a brand name for a type of coated webbing that is made by bonding a PVC or TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) coating to a polyester or nylon webbing. This creates a strong, durable, and waterproof material that is ideal for use in dog collars and leashes.

HARDWARE
Cast from solid brass (or plated zinc, if black), our hardware has been selected for maximum strength and to ensure our products remain rust-free for life. All hardware is kept securely in place with strong solid brass rivets.

NAMEPLATE
A solid brass or stainless steel nameplate, attached securely to the collar using solid brass rivets to match the colour of the nameplate.

*BEAUTIFUL FLAWS*
As our leads are entirely handmade by us, marks from the tooling process and minor inconsistencies in the stamping will occur. Neither will detract from the quality and beauty of the lead, in fact we think this adds to the charm of choosing a handmade, unique product rather than something that has been mass-produced.

Dimensions

LEAD
Length - this can be custom made to your preferred length. If you require a different length to the options provided, please contact us for quote.
Width - 1/2" or 3/4" depending on your dog's size. It is approximately 2.5mm thick.

NAMEPLATE
Small (for 1/2" wide leads) - 50 x 9.5mm - up to 2 lines of information in 2.5mm text
Large (for 3/4" wide leads) - 70 x 16mm - up to 3 lines of information in 3mm text

Sizing Guide

The 1/2" (12mm) width has a break strength of 225kg.
The 3/4" (19mm) width has a break strength of 340kg.

As long lines have a lot of extra strapping, they can get quite heavy depending on the length you choose. Biothane is very strong so we generally recommend the 1/2" or 3/4" for most dogs.

Care Guide

Here are some tips for caring for a biothane dog lead:

1. Wipe down the lead regularly: Biothane leads are easy to clean with just a damp cloth. Wipe down the lead regularly to remove any dirt or debris that may have accumulated.

2. Wash the lead if necessary: If the lead gets particularly dirty, you can wash it in warm, soapy water. Be sure to rinse it thoroughly and let it air dry before using it again.

3. Avoid harsh chemicals: Avoid using any harsh chemicals or cleaners on the lead, as they can damage the material.

4. Store the lead properly: When not in use, store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

5. Check for wear and tear: Regularly inspect the lead for any signs of wear and tear, such as frayed edges or cracks in the material. If you notice any damage, replace the lead as soon as possible to ensure your dog's safety.
