Our versatile leather dog lead comes with solid brass fittings that match our leather dog collars. The flat leather lead can be configured in multiple ways to suit all your walking and training needs. If you need options in a leather lead, this is the way to go.

  • Walk two dogs at once, with one attached to each end of the lead.
  • Train your dog with a lead that can be shortened or lengthened as needed, keeping full control.
  • Use it as a hands-free lead by wearing one end cross-body and attaching the other end to your dog.

Made from three pieces of full-grain leather joined with solid brass rivets and high-quality hardware, this 180cm lead is built to last. Trigger clips at both ends make it easy to adjust the length and function, while two dee rings and one o-ring add even more versatility.

We round, smooth, and seal the edges of the leather by hand for ultimate comfort. The rust-proof solid brass hardware ensures durability.

Optional Hand-stamped NameplateA solid brass nameplate can be securely attached to the lead with matching solid brass rivets. Your emergency contact details will be clearly visible, ensuring you can be contacted if misplaced.

Materials & Craftsmanship

LEATHER
We use premium full-grain leather — the highest grade of real leather, known for its natural markings, strength, and durability.
Selected for its strength and beauty - as the leather ages it will soften and develop a unique, natural patina, whilst remaining extremely strong to withstand harsh and demanding conditions. It is vegetable-tanned and has been dyed all the way through with non-toxic water dyes.

HARDWARE
Premium hardware, cast from solid brass, selected for maximum strength to ensure our products remain rust-free for life. All hardware is kept securely in place with strong solid brass rivets.

Solid brass is a natural metal so our "gold" hardware may arrive with a little tarnish, especially when travelling snugly against leather. This is completely normal and easily polished – a quick wipe brings back the shine. Over time, brass also develops a warm, natural patina that many owners love. If you prefer hardware that stays bright without patina, you may like to choose our silver option instead (nickel-plated brass or stainless steel).

CRAFTSMANSHIP
Our leather dog leads are custom made with quality craftsmanship and thoughtful design that prioritises your dog's comfort and safety. Our dog leads stand out for their premium Italian vegetable-tanned leather, known for its ability to soften and age beautifully over time, and sturdy solid brass hardware.

Each dog lead is meticulously handmade, and our nameplates are hand-stamped. Minor tooling marks or inconsistencies in the stamping enhance the unique charm and human element of your custom dog lead.

Dog Lead Length Guide

The best dog lead length depends on both your dog’s size and your own height. A taller person walking a smaller breed will usually prefer a longer lead so there is enough comfortable slack between hand and dog, while larger breeds often suit shorter lengths.

Dog Lead Length Guide

As a general guide:

3ft Lead (90cm)

Best for close control and keeping your dog nearby.

Commonly chosen for:

  • French Bulldogs
  • Staffies
  • Boxers
  • Labrador Retrievers
  • Golden Retrievers
  • German Shepherds
  • Rottweilers

Often used for:

  • Busy public areas
  • Heel training
  • Strong dogs that walk close to their handler

4ft Lead (120cm)

A balanced everyday option offering a little more freedom while still maintaining control.

Popular for:

  • Cavoodles
  • Border Collies
  • Cockapoos
  • Spoodles
  • English Springer Spaniels
  • Vizslas
  • Whippets

A good all-round choice for most medium-sized dogs.

5ft Lead (150cm)

One of the most versatile options, especially for smaller breeds or taller owners.

Frequently chosen for:

  • Miniature Dachshunds
  • Dachshunds
  • Cavalier King Charles Spaniels
  • Toy Poodles
  • Miniature Poodles
  • Jack Russell Terriers
  • Cocker Spaniels
  • Beagles

This extra length helps create a more natural walking position for short-legged dogs.

6ft Lead (180cm)

Ideal for giving your dog more freedom on walks while still remaining safely connected.

Popular for:

  • Standard Poodles
  • Golden Retrievers
  • Labrador Retrievers
  • Border Collies
  • Australian Shepherds
  • Weimaraners

Also a great option for:

  • Taller handlers
  • Loose lead walking
  • Relaxed beach or park walks

A Few Things to Consider

  • Short-legged breeds often benefit from longer leads.
  • Taller people generally prefer slightly longer leads.
  • Strong pullers are often easier to manage on shorter leads.
  • If your dog walks ahead a lot, extra lead length can feel more comfortable.
  • Puppies may initially suit shorter leads for training before moving to a longer everyday lead.

If you're unsure which length will suit your dog best, feel free to get in touch with your dog’s breed, height, and the type of walks you normally do and we’ll happily help guide you.

Is this suitable for your pet?

We use quality brass trigger clips and rings and this does give the lead some weight, so we recommend this lead for medium to large breed dogs.

If your dog needs to be tied up or left unattended for a while, we recommend using a heavy-duty lead made for that purpose, and saving this custom lead for walks and training. While our leads are extremely sturdy, and will withstand forceful tugging, there are determined dogs out there for which any lead is no match!

Remember: the wider the leather, the stronger the lead.
