Versatile Leather Dog Lead: Endless Options for Every Walk

Design Features: Our versatile leather dog lead comes with solid brass fittings that match our leather dog collars perfectly. This 180cm long (approx.), flat leather lead can be configured in multiple ways to suit all your walking and training needs. If you need options, this lead is the way to go.

Material and Construction: Handmade from premium Italian vegetable-tanned leather, this lead combines luxury and durability. We've rounded, smoothed, and sealed the edges by hand for ultimate comfort. The rust-proof solid brass hardware ensures it lasts a long time.

Customisable Options: Made from three pieces of genuine leather joined with solid brass rivets and high-quality hardware, this lead is built to last. Trigger clips at both ends make it easy to adjust the length and function, while two dee rings and one o-ring add even more versatility.

Multiple Uses:

  • Walk two dogs at once, with one attached to each end of the lead.
  • Train your dog with a lead that can be shortened or lengthened as needed, keeping full control.
  • Use it as a hands-free lead by wearing one end cross-body and attaching the other end to your dog.

Tailored to Your Needs: This leather lead is designed to fit into your lifestyle, giving you the perfect tool for any situation. Whether you're taking a casual stroll or doing intensive training, its adaptability makes it ideal.

Lasting Investment: Choosing a Kinfolk Leather dog lead means you're getting a piece that shows off your dog's unique personality with timeless style and quality. Our leather leads are made to last and look great for years. When you want a fresh look, we can reuse the same high-quality hardware to create a new strap, making sure your dog’s leash is both sustainable and stylish. Kinfolk Leather dog leads are more than just accessories—they're a smart and lasting investment for your loyal companion.

LEATHER

The vegetable-tanned leather has been selected for its strength and beauty - as it ages it will soften and develop a unique, natural patina, whilst remaining extremely strong to withstand harsh and demanding conditions. It has been dyed all the way through with non-toxic water dyes.

HARDWARE

Premium British saddlery hardware, cast from solid brass and rust-proof. Our hardware has been selected for maximum strength and to ensure our products remain rust-free for life. All hardware is kept securely in place with strong solid brass rivets.

NAMEPLATE

An optional solid brass nameplate can be securely attached to the lead with matching solid brass rivets. Your emergency contact details will be clearly visible, ensuring you can be contacted if misplaced.

CRAFTSMANSHIP

Each dog lead is meticulously handmade, and our nameplates are hand-stamped. Minor tooling marks or inconsistencies in the stamping enhance the unique charm and human element of your custom dog lead.

Is this suitable for your pet?

We use quality brass trigger clips and rings and this does give the lead some weight, so we recommend this lead for medium to large breed dogs.

We recommend using a specialty lead when attached to a tie-out and keeping this leather dog lead for walks. While our leads are extremely sturdy, and will withstand forceful tugging, there are determined dogs out there for which any lead is no match!

Remember: the wider the leather, the stronger the lead.

Collar Width

Leather Dog Collars:

As a general guide, we recommend that if your dog’s neck circumference is:

  • Less than 22cm (8.5”) or a puppy under 3 months old, choose a soft leather puppy collar.
  • 22 - 28cm (8.5 - 11”), choose a 1/2” leather collar.
  • 28 - 34cm (11 - 13”), choose a 3/4” leather collar.
  • 34 - 41cm (13 - 16”), choose a 1” leather collar.
  • 41 - 48cm (15 - 19”), choose a 1 1/4” leather collar.
  • 48cm (19”) and larger, choose a 1 1/2” leather collar.

BioThane Dog Collars:

The BioThane range comes in widths of 1/2”, 3/4”, and 1”. Because Biothane is stronger than leather, these widths are suitable for a wider range of neck sizes. When choosing a width, you can focus more on the look you prefer and the comfort of your dog, as the strength will be adequate regardless of the size.

  • 1/2” Biothane Collar: Suitable for necks up to 35cm (14”).
  • 3/4” Biothane Collar: Suitable for necks from 28cm (11") - 40cm (16").
  • 1” Biothane Collar: Suitable for necks from 35cm (14") and beyond. This width is highly recommended for most medium and large dog breeds.

General Tips:

  • Wider collars are stronger, so please consider this when selecting the width. For example, do not use a 1/2” collar for a medium-sized dog; choose at least a 3/4” collar or larger.
  • For medium-sized breeds and larger dogs, especially those that have a habit of pulling on the lead, we highly recommend choosing one of our D-End Dog Collars. These collars provide an additional layer of leather to pull against when attaching a lead to the dee ring, offering extra strength and durability to handle stronger pulling.

How To Measure

How to Measure For A Dog Collar

We strongly suggest providing an accurate measurement when placing your order. If you follow the instructions below, this will allow us to make a collar for your dog that will fit him/her well.

1. Using a soft tape measure, record the circumference of the neck at the point where a collar would naturally lie.

2. Pull the tape so that it is snug but not tight. Record the measurement.

3. Enter this measurement in the personalisation text box when prompted. This measurement will be the middle hole of the collar, we will add at least another two holes either side.

Puppies - If your dog is a puppy, please let us know and we will make an allowance for growth when sizing the holes for the collar. Please feel free to give us a range (up to 12cm, i.e. 24-36cm) so that we can make sure there are enough holes to suit your dog's growth. We can be very flexible with the number of holes provided in the collar.

How to Measure For A Cat Collar

1. Using a soft tape measure, record the circumference of the neck at the point where a collar would naturally lie.

2. Pull the tape so that it is snug but not tight. Record the measurement.

3. Enter this measurement in the personalisation text box when prompted.
